You can pay cashless with the MensaCard in all of our canteens and coffee bars. 
It makes the hassle of rummaging around for small change easier for both you and us, shortens waiting times at the checkouts and helps you enjoy your meal more quickly. 
The MensaCard can be topped up at our machines.

If you don't want to do it manually or don't have cash with you to top it up, ours is Direct debit (“autoload”) just right for you.

In our cafeterias studierendenWERKs apply three Price categories:

Price category 1:
This price applies to students at Berlin universities for whom the studierendenWERK BERLIN is responsible. These are all public universities as well as the private universities that are associated with the studierendenWERK BERLIN cooperate.

This cafeteria meal price also applies to students in the Potsdam Student Union's area of ​​responsibility (University of Potsdam, the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, the Babelsberg Film University and the technical universities in Wildau and Brandenburg). Unfortunately, it is not possible to offer subsidized meals to students from universities in other federal states.

Price category 2:
This price applies to university members of Berlin's public universities and those with the studierendenWERK BERLIN cooperating private universities. The prize can only be claimed if an employee ID card can be shown or a letter from the relevant university or college can be presented that entitles you to claim this prize.

Price category 3:
This price applies to guests of Berlin universities and colleges.

Universities within the jurisdiction of the Potsdam Student Union

At every checkout in the canteens, coffee bars, bakeries and food trucks studierendenWERKs BERLIN you will receive a MensaCard for a deposit of 1,55 euros. Please have your student ID or confirmation from the university that you are an employee ready.

You can also get a guest card at selected machines, which will then be changed to your respective status (student, employee or guest) at the checkout.

The MensaCard can be topped up at the reloaders that can be found in all of our facilities. Or use the autoload procedure!

The so-called “autoload” procedure corresponds to the direct debit procedure that is widely used outside of universities. 
In order to take part in the autoload process, you must register at one of the cafeteria checkouts.
There will be something between you and that studierendenWERK BERLIN a written one "Participation in the direct debit procedure ("direct debit authorization") agreed. 
To do this, we need your EC card as proof of the account details, the MensaCard and a photo ID with address as identification so that we can write to you in the event of unredeemed direct debits.

Neither personal data nor usage profile are stored on the MensaCard. Only the bank and account details stored in the direct debit authorization to upgrade the MensaCard are linked to the MensaCard. The data protection provisions according to the Berlin Data Protection Act are observed.

If the balance on your MensaCard falls below a certain amount you have specified, you will be asked during the checkout process whether you want to upgrade the card. Your bank account will then be debited with the amount. It may take several days for the booking to be credited to your account. If you wish, you will receive a receipt for the transaction.

To prevent misuse, an automatic upgrade can only occur once a day.
You can cancel the direct debit authorization at any time by returning the MensaCard to one of the cash registers and having the remaining balance transferred to you.

Of course, you will also receive a new MensaCard without autoload, which you can continue to upgrade at the upgraders in the cafeterias and at the university.

Please note that your MensaCard can only be topped up at one of our cash registers; it is not a regular transfer to your MensaCard, which you may also use for our washing machines in one of our dormitories.

 

 

The autoload procedure can be terminated with an informal letter. However, the card should not be handed in at the machine as bookings may still be outstanding.

You can use your MensaCard at our Mechanical automata, the so-called multiloaders.

In facilities without upgraders only on the Checkout.

Your credit (up to 30 euros) and the card deposit - if it is a deposit card - will be paid out to you immediately and the card will be retained.

Special feature: CampusCard
To pay out the balance of the MensaCard, which is integrated into your CampusCard, we need the number of the studierendenWERKs, which is located on the back of the CampusCard. 

Please also send us your bank details and we will then transfer your remaining balance to you (from a remaining balance of €10).

Please do not put the CampusCards into our multiloaders.

You can then properly return the CampusCard to your university at any time, provided you have provided us with the number on the back.

If your MensaCard does not work, you can contact our cashier staff in the large canteens at any time.

If you lose your MensaCard, we can block the card by providing you with the card number and pay you any remaining credit. It is therefore important to write down the number and keep it when you receive the card.

Children up to 6 years old get a free meal in many canteens.
You can get the Kids MensaCard at our checkouts.

At least one parent must be a student and a guest in the cafeteria and must eat something themselves.

In Berlin, the Campuscard has been introduced at six Berlin universities since 2015. It enables the conversion of paper-based student ID cards to a multifunctional card. More information about the CampusCard can be found here: campuscard.berlin

That too studierendenWERK BERLIN is involved in this because the card also has a payment function for the canteens and coffee bars. The studierendenWERK BERLIN has no access to the students' personal data.
Therefore, in the event of a loss, it is not enough to transmit the student number.
It's important STW number on the back of the Campuscard, which can be used to block the MensaCard function or pay out your credit.

The Campuscard and the semester ticket that is also included belong to the administrative area of ​​the universities.
